Penicillin



Mechanism Bactericid effect by destroying the synthesis of the cellwall



Indication



First choice at infection from strepcocci, actinomyces, pnemucocci, staphylococci or clostridia. Other bacteriostatics works as antagonists if combined.



Contraindication



Allergy - known or suspected



Side effects



Few, because it has a small spectrum



Recommended dosage



V (Vepicombin): 1 mill.IE * 3. G type: 1 mill.*3 (only i.v./i.m.)







Penicillinase resistant Penicillin (fx. Methicillin)



Mechanism



Same as penicillin



Indication



Stafylococci producing penicillinase.



Contraindication



Allery - known or suspected



Side effects



Few, because it has a small spectrum



Recommended dosage



Methicillin: 1 g.*6 i.v./i.m. Dicloxacillin: 250 mg.* 4 p.o.



Broad spectrum penicillin

(fx. ampicillin and Pivampicillin



Mechanism



Same as penicillin



Indication



Only when the small spectrum penicillins cannot be used, fx. in mouth and neck infections with gram-neg. First choice at antibiotics prophylacsis



Contraindication



Pregnancy Allergy



Side effects



Diarrea and rash are not seldomly seen. The rash is not an allegic reaction



Recommended dosage



Ampicillin 1 g. * 3 Pivampicillin 500 mg. * 2
